Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
