Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
